Rhode Island Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Buy $1 Million Worth of Cocaine

Jose J. Astacio, of Providence, Rhode Island, pled guilty to cocaine conspiracy charges in connection with setting up a deal with an undercover FBI agent and others to purchase a million dollars worth of cocaine. Nearly a half-million dollars had been delivered for the drugs when Astacio was arrested.

Pennsylvania Resident Charged with Threatening Staff of Congresswoman

Jesse L. Keel, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged with knowingly and willfully threatening to assault and to kill a member or members of the staff of Congresswoman Allyson Y.Schwartz.

Colorado Man Guilty of Mailing Threats to Government Officials

Jay Stuart DeVaughn, of Aurora, Colorado, pled guilty to 13 counts of mailing threatening communications, including threatening letters containing white powder, to the president, members of Congress, and the Argentine Consulate.

Man Sentenced in California for Sending Anthrax Hoax Letters, Other Offenses

Timothy Cloud, a transient, was sentenced in Sacramento, California to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to sending anthrax hoax letters, threatening President Obama, and failing to register as a sex offender.

Two Convicted in Massachusetts Physical Therapy Health Care Fraud Scheme

Patrick J. Gelin and Micheline Lamarre, the president and an employee of a Brockton physical therapy clinic, respectively, were convicted of participating in a scheme to commit health care fraud for their roles in submitting false claims to insurance companies for non-existent physical therapy treatment.

California Man Sentenced to Life for Plotting to Overthrow Cambodian Government

Long Beach, California resident and U.S. citizen Yasith Chhun, the president of the Cambodian Freedom Fighters–a Long Beach-based organization that was formed to seize political control in the southeast Asian country–was sentenced to life without parole in federal prison for his conviction on federal charges of conspiring to kill in a foreign country.
